Getting ready for Wine Highway Weekend 2010

March 19, 20, 21: Fifth Annual Wine Highway Weekend
-An expanded events calendar for the Fifth Annual Wine Highway Weekend has been posted by the Wine Growers Association of Georgia. You'll find updates on what each participating winery has planned as well as specials offered by associate members of WAG. For expanded details, please click Wine Highway Weekend
-Naturally Georgia Tasting Room, Dahlonega: As part of the weekend celebration, Naturally Georgia will be serving Irish Stew that Friday with Irish Soda Bread, 4 to 7 p.m. On Saturday, from 3 to 5 p.m., CelticLink will offer Celtic instruments.

What's new:
-March 14, 21, 28, End of the Winter Celebration, Wolf Mountain Vineyards. Features live jazz and Sunday brunch with seatings at 12:30 and 2:30 p.m., $30 per person.
-March 13-14: Three Sisters Vineyards' St. Patrick's Day Wine Celebration, Saturday, 12:30-5 p.m. and Sunday, 1-5 p.m. On Saturday, live Irish Music by Mulligan Stew will be presented on the Crush Pad Deck & Patio. No general reservations are required. No Admission. Free Parking. Complimentary tastings plus paid "Vintner's Tasting" will be offered both days.
-March 13-14, Frogtown Cellars: Rose & Viognier Chili Pairing Days, noon-3:30 p.m.
-March 13: Tiger Mountain Vineyards' March Madness, 11 until 5 p.m. Irish cheeses, tastings, wine discounts and a drawing.
-March 20, 21: Spring open house, Three Sisters Vineyards: Live music on the deck with BlueBilly Grit on Saturday and The Buzzard Mountain Boys on Sunday.
-April 10: Tiger Mountain Vineyards plans Malbec release. The release party for the 2008 Malbec is from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. In addition to Malbec, enjoy mushroom hors d'oeuvres, artisan cheeses and breads, live music. The cost: $10 per person. (Nod to Wine Growers Association of Georgia)

-May 1: Wine Fest 2010, noon-5 p.m., Habersham Winery, Helen. Ten wineries participating> Details
-May 22-23: Taste of Sautee: Fine wine, food, art and music combine for a special weekend. Taking part are four area wineries as well as five bands, area restaurants and more than 40 artists. The wineries include Yonah Mountain, Sautee Nachoochee, Frogtown Cellars, Habersham and Serenity Cellars. The bands include: Kyle Obermeier & Jeremiah Osterman; Kip Dockery Band; The Georgia Mudcats; Monica Spears; Shoal Creek Band. Hours: 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Saturday; noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. -June 5-6: Three Sisters Vineyards' Georgia Wine Country Festival: Billed as "Dahlonega's Original Wine Festival," it is set for June 5 and 6 this year. It is the ninth time Three Sisters has staged the celebration. More details soon. Also, join the event's Facebook page> Click
