North Georgia wineries offer special holiday wines, dinners, hours

What ahead at the North Georgia wineries:.
-Three Sisters Vineyards: Georgia Jug. "If you enjoy Fat Boy Red or Blood Mountain Red, we think you'll love Georgia Jug. It is an off dry Cabernet-Merlot-Pinot blend with rich color and flavor," says the winery's website.
-Crane Creek Vineyards in Young Harris has a limited supply 2010 Christmas Catawba.
-Dec. 11-12: Three Sisters Vineyards: An open house with $5 tastings as well as $15 vintner's tastings. Also set for Dec. 18-19.
-Dec. 11: Tiger Mountain Vineyards. 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Hot mulled wine, hors d’oeuvres, gifts for the wine lovers on your list. Appalachian Christmas music.
-Dec. 11: Wolf Mountain Vineyards. Wine dinner, $80 per person. Details
-Dec. 20-February: Wolf Mountain Vineyards Closed starting Dec. 20, reopening weekends only in February.
-Dec. 20-26: Sharp Mountain Vineyards: Closed.
-Dec. 21: Crane Creek Vineyards, annual winter solstice celebration, 6-8 p.m.
-Dec. 24-25: BlackStock Vineyards, closed.
-Dec. 30: Yonah Mountain Vineyard: Tour de la Cave & Barrel Sampling 3 p.m. at vineyards in Cleveland, Ga.
-Dec. 31-Jan 2: Sharp Mountain Vineyards' Customer Appreciation Days. "Pairing cheese and fruit with wine, drawing for Free Tastings, wine, merchandise, or a fact/fortune ticket. There will be gourmet food sampling and complimentary wine tours. "
-Dec. 31: The Georgia Winery: Free tours on the hour, free tastings, free admission, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
-Dec. 31: Tiger Mountain Vineyards. 1- 5 p.m., New Year's Eve tasting.

This is one of the best weekends to tour N. Georgia's wineries

Winter Wine Highway weekend is here:
-Dec. 3-5: Second Winter Wine Highway weekend: Nine wineries participating with each offering special events during the weekend, according to the Wine Growers Association of Georgia. A $20 per person "passport" gets you into all nine wineries; you can pick up a passport at any of the wineries. For a look at what's planned at each stop, click Wineries.
